Its been a while since i last posted on this blog - but i just had to write about the Polycom Mitel merger. Mitel bought a great brand at a great valuation, well done to Mitel. But enough about that.hat astonishes me most is that Cisco didn't buy Polycom at that price. After all, it gives them enterprise customers, video conferencing technology. It gets them right into the heart of the Microsoft Lync customers - most frequently deployed with Polycom phones. Its the perfect buy and Cisco can easily afford it.
In the video and unified communications business Cisco has made few sensible buys - despite telling the world it wants to acquire aggressively. That prompts me to think that they are not so interested in this market.
Where are the big Cisco Call Manager announcements, the acquisitions to strengthen its position in the market? Nowhere. And with consolidation well underway in the unified communications market, that makes me question exactly where Cisco wants to take Call Manager.....
