Of Apple Iphone versus Windows Mobile

I recently switched from a Windows mobile phone to an Iphone. Yes a little late. Rarely have I seen a technology gap so large between 2 products. So what does the picture have to do with it? Well, keen divers and snorklers amongst you might avail themselves of the latest Windows mobile phone at no charge! Its at the bottom of that sea. (TIP: Its a greek island) Finders = keepers. Considering the state of Windows mobile, and that particular phone, I have an inkling that this might not be enough incentive to get your goggles out. SO....... let me add a FREE 1 MONTH holiday in same island to that!

Oh Mr Balmer, what were you smoking when you could have bought Apple for a pittance??

    Ahh but you have to find the phone first! Its not Cyprus actually, its another Greek Island! Still if you are around, lets have lunch and would love to hear your feedback :-)

    I can see a lot of space for improvement on the future WM phones. Really useful features would be waterproof casing which floats on water. :P

    Yes there is improvement possible, but the gap with the iphone is very big....

    I actually sold my Windows Mobile, cashed on it and bought a holiday with the money...

    Now running on a Nokia... Symbian OS is light years better...

    Sssshhh.... I'm an HP and MS distie... enough said.. (mercenary!!) :)

    David - Yes of course it was! IT cant be easier on an iphone :-) The only i dont like is itunes....

    Wayne - yeah, Nokia is good too, especially like the integrated SIP phone which connects seamlessly with 3CX!

    The iphone is a great toy for private users. But in the enterprise it is impossible to manage hundreds or even thousands of iphones. Proper management is only possible with symbian and windows mobile.

    Great post!

    I have been a staunch WM user since it was first released my first phone being an O2 Xphone. It was really cool in it's day. Nothing competed. I think I've had 5 or so incarnations since, the last being the HTC Touch Diamond which I really liked. Well I lost that. Did a "man-look" around the house including some chesterfield couches. Cleaning lady found said phone in said couches a few hours later but by that time... new phone ordered. I so got to the point of not caring about phones I rang my Vodaphone rep and said "Kat, just send me whatever" - well an iPhone 3GS arrived.

    Pre V3 there were some fundamental things missing - 'little things' like copy and paste but the V3 on the 3GS rocks. And Nick is spot on. The divide is enormous. This iPhone just damn works.

    So my once MS dominated household is now my full of Apple gear: support-free macbooks for the kids, iPhones, iPods.

    I'm big into home automation and the guts of these throw-away WM devices are making for great touch screen controllers :)

    And Euro, if you are following, it seems we are not the only ones to be thinking of the need for a waterproof phone.

    Hi Richard!

    Yep support free is the word. We have several ipod itouch and i never had to explain how they worked. Quite the contrary to when i made the mistake of getting a netbook with Xandros linux for my daughter.

    Iphone is the king, even though i have to say i dislike the application censoring that apple does.....

    Nick, glad you went iPhone. Have you been checking out the rumour mill surrounding the (supposed) upcoming tablet? It looks gorgeous and will fill that gap between always-to-hand iPhone and just-to-large-to-be-comfortable-while-relaxing notebook for reading, emailing, browsing at home.

    I don't know. What can you do in your iPhone that you can not do in a Windows Mobile phone like say HTC HD2?

    Hi ZXT - The whole interface is far superior. How it operates, the responsiveness, no comparison. The little touches such as how to zoom in and out. Just my opinion of course...

    I know iSIP does the job, but a dedicated 3CX softphone would be even better, supporting the 3cx tunnel and closer intrgation with the other 3cx features. Plus it could look exactly like the softphone.
